Duplicate Meta Description and Titles Issues In BloggerDuplicate Meta Description and Titles Issues In Blogger

Now the reasons that your blog has these errors:
1. In Blogger, although you can add meta tags to the template easily, but these tags are then used for the entire blog  (all the posts). So the description tag, which is only meant for the main/home page gets copied and is displayed for all the pages. Now Google assumes that all your pages are having the same content, which is a serious offense in Search Engine Language !

2. The second issue of duplicate titles arises because Google indexes blog posts and comments separately, and while indexing comments, it again indexes the complete posts. Now this is where a serious problem of duplication of both content and titles takes place.

So you must remove these errors to make a successful and Search Engine Optimized blog.

Finally the solution to the problems:

1. First of all, in the template (Blogger-> dashboard -> Layout -> Edit HTML) find (CTRL+F) the code for meta description tag, something like this:

(DELET THIS BEFORE USING THESE CODES)
<* meta content="GENERAL_DESCRIPTION_HERE" name="description"/>
Now put that tag in an "if" condition, so that it will be displayed ONLY in the HOME PAGE:
<* b:if cond='data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl'>
<* meta content="GENERAL_DESCRIPTION_HERE" name="description"/>

Replace the text in RED, with your blog's description. Now save the template.

2. For the second issue (duplicate titles); in the same page (Layout -> Edit HTML), click on "Expand Widget Templates".
Then find (CTRL+F) this code:
<* a expr:href='data:comment.url' title='comment permalink'>
<* data:comment.timestamp/>
Replace the entire code with this new code:
<* b:if cond='data:post.commentPagingRequired'>
<* a expr:href='data:comment.url' title='comment permalink'> <* data.comment.timestamp/>

<* a expr:href='data:blog.url + "#" + data:comment.anchorName' title='comment permalink'> <* data:comment.timestamp/>
That's it. Now within a week or 2 weeks, you may see the difference and improvement brought to your blog by this method !
NOTE: For my own blog it took around 10-15 days to get these errors removed from Google.

To see the changes, you should have an account in Google's Webmaster Tools. Once you log in to your account you can see the errors at Diagnostics -> Content Analysis.

How To Maximize Battery Life On Windows 7

Windows 7 has been touted as a great power saver and several reports have revealed that it can help large organisations save a fair bit off their electricity bill. However Windows 7 also had its fair share of minor battery complaints. Now it wasn’t that it was draining the batteries, more that it didn’t appear to understand the health of the battery and would tell users to replace it. These complaints have all dissipated now, so let’s have a look at how you can maximize the battery life of your Windows 7 laptop.
First things first, let’s identify what the biggest battery hog is. Could it be your processor? Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radio? Speakers? No, it is in fact your display.

Windows Vista was continually slammed for it’s battery life, so Microsoft have really worked hard on improving it in Windows 7. But to be honest, if you’ve got a really old laptop battery, that sees it’s life draining in just a couple of minutes after its been charged, its probably seen better days and it’s time to invest in a new one. But if your battery is fairly healthy, these tips should extend its life a bit.
Windows 7 has a great power plan control panel built into it, it allows you to quickly adjust your screen brightness and choose a preset power plan. You can access it quickly by pressing Win+ X and this will allow you to change the brightness or select a pre-determined power plan. If you want more advanced options, you can click on the battery icon in your task-bar and go to more power options.
Now here you can change all sorts of things like when you want the display to dim, when to go to sleep mode, your screen brightness for when your laptop is plugged in and unplugged. Once unplugged it will automatically revert to these settings for you.
Of course the most important setting here is to reduce the brightness of your display right down, you will see a dramatic improvement in your battery life if you do this.
But there’s more settings that we can play around with. If you go to change advanced power plan settings you can change things like your processor speed, system cooling and set what your power button does as well as many more settings.

Play around with these and set things like the harddrive to turn off quickly, the wireless adapter into low power mode and reduce your processors maximum state. Some systems will have a “System Cooling Policy” and this will allow you to select whether or not you want your system to cool with fans, or to let it cool naturally and reduce processor power to prevent it from getting to hot.
Play around with all these settings, they’re fairly simple and straight forward and you should know how to optimize for the best battery performance.
Another big drainer on the battery is your wireless and Bluetooth radios. These use a fair bit of battery life, particularly Wi-Fi. Even when your not connected to a network, it’s constantly scanning and looking for one to connect to. If you’re just typing a word document or something, and don’t need Wi-Fi, be sure to turn off your wireless.
Some laptops have a switch for this, others have a keyboard shortcut, but you can also do it via your Control Panel.
An important thing to remember is kill any unnecessary programs and process that may be running in the background. You’ll find with more and more programs these days, just because you “X” out of them, doesn’t mean their closed. If you go to your system tray notification area, you will often find their icon, which means they’re still up and running. Right click and exit these to make sure they’ve closed. Of course you can also go to your task manager Ctrl+Alt+Delete and have a look at what’s going on there as well.
If your system is low on RAM, and your running a couple of programs, your machine will have to keep switching around programs from your harddrive, which causes unnecessary usage of it, therefore using more power, so make sure you have plenty of RAM, it’s not that expensive to get hold of these days anyway.
So there’s a couple of tips that if you follow, will definitly result in better battery life.
Have you any more suggestions to add? Let me know in the comments

How to convert .FLV(Flash) to .WMV, .AVI or any other format?

In my last post on ‘How to Download Video, not just from YouTube?, I mentioned that the downloaded file will be in .flv format (Flash). I also gave links to some of the free FLV players. But, if you want to use that downloaded video in another or friends computer which doesn’t have FLV player then every time you have to install FLV player in all computers.
But it’s possible to convert FLV files to WMV, AVI or any other format you prefer and it’s easier than you think. The best part is you might already have that software installed in your computer.

So, How to convert FLV to WMV, AVI or any other format?
VLC player is one of the software which is widely used and which plays any format of audio or video (including .flv). The less known fact is that it also helps to convert audio and video file formats. Follow these steps to convert .flv to .wmv, .avi or any other format.
Note: If you don’t have VLC player yet, then you can download from VideoLan. It’s an open source!
Step 1: Load the .flv file into VLC player and press Stop. (If you are using large file then it may take some time to load, so wait till the whole file is loaded and then press stop. Otherwise you may not be able to transcode the full file)
Step 2: Go to File -> Wizard. It will give you a pop-up ‘Streaming/Transcoding Wizard‘.
Step 3: Select Transcode/Save to file and Click Next.
Transcoding Wizard
Step 4: Select Exisiting Playlist Item and the file you have just loaded will be listed there.
Step 5: Highlight the .flv file and click Next.
Highlight FLV file
Step 6: In the next screen, Select Transcode Video and from the drop down box choose WMV3 (this has highest quality, though the output of the file may differ as per the original .flv file). If you are having problem with WMV3, try using WMV2.
Step 7: Select Transcode Audio and from the drop down box choose MP3 (for the quality to be higher, leave it at the default bitrate of 192) and click Next.
Transcode Video and Audio
Step 8: choose ‘ASF‘ as the ‘Encapsulation Format‘ and click Next.
Step 9: You will be asked to select the file to save to, click ‘Choose‘ and browse to the folder where you want your new file to be saved.
Step 10: !!!Important!!! Type in the file name in the ‘File’ field with the extension of .WMV (example, lytebyte.wmv)
Step 11: Click Finish and wait for couple of seconds and the new file is ready.
Step 12: Use the new .WMV file in any player!
Earlier Update: In case if you are not able to transcode the full file, it may be because the file was not fully loaded before it was transcoded.

How to Make Custom iPhone Ringtones for Free Read more: How to Make Custom iPhone Ringtones for Free | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_2160460_custom-iphone-ringtones-free.html#ixzz0vDvkXxLz

So you bought an iPhone. You love the phone and all its features, but wish you didn't have to pay for your songs twice to get a ringtone. There are plenty of songs in your music library, but no way to make ringtones from any of them. Or is there? Actually, with a little bit of trickery (nothing illegal), you can create ringtones from any one of your non-DRM songs in your iTunes library easily and for free. This works on both Mac and Windows PCs.

*Please note: There may be differences among all the possible combinations of iTunes versions and operating system versions (see Tips for a way to work around the syncing issues).

Instructions
  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Step 2
Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
  3. Step 3
Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
  4. Step 4
Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
  5. Step 5
Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
  6. Step 6
    Click the "Options" tab.
  7. Step 7
Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
  8. Step 8
Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 40 seconds long.
  9. Step 9
    Click "OK."
  10. Step 10
Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
  11. Step 11
Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
  12. Step 12
Click on the "Keep Files" button.
  13. Step 13
Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
  14. Step 14
Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
  15. Step 15
Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
  16. Step 16
Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
  17. Step 17
Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.

How to Unlock Password Protected Word Documents

Step 1: Install the Word Password Recovery Download

To recover your Word document password, you'll need to first download the Petri-recommended Office Password Recovery Pro utility. The direct download is available here.(2.1Mb)
Run the setup file, using the recommended default install options.

Step 2: Start the Password Recovery Wizard

Use the Open command on the toolbar (or in the application’s file menu) and locate the Word document you’d like to access. This launches the Office Password Recovery wizard. Step 3: Choose to Remove or Retrieve the Password Office Password Recovery gives you two ways of accessing your protected file; completely remove the password protection, or reveal the original password.  Choose the option that best meets your needs:

Recovery Option 1: Delete the Existing Password

Using a web-based tool, the application gathers information about your document’s encryption and determines the ideal configuration needed to remove your password.
Note: This option removes all password encryption on your file and leaves the document completely unlocked until you choose to re-enable password protection.

Once the process completes, you simply specify where to save the decrypted file and hit OK. Success! Office Password Recovery Pro prompts you to view your recovered document.

Recovery Option 2: Password Retrieval

If it's important for you to know and recover the password used on your file, choose Recover the password to open option.   The wizard then leads you through a short series of questions, aimed at gathering clues about the schema of the password. Answering these questions is not required. If you don’t’ have any clues to go on, simply leave the default selections as they are and press the Next button twice and then click Finish. Office Password Recovery will begin trying millions of combinations to crack the password on your file. This process will continue in the background, using a number of different password attack schemes until it locates a match.

Once your password has been recovered, the program clearly notifies you of its success and the results:

When you have critical Word documents and just can’t find the passwords to open them, we highly recommend you download Office Password Recovery PRO.
